(2) The correlation between the use of instructional media perception variable (X2) and the competence of physics teachers of SMA/MA in Southeast Maluku Regency (Y) was not statistically significant based on the t test of 1.551 and 0.137 which was significantly greater than the significance level of 5%. (1) The correlation between educational background variable (X1) and the competence of physics teachers of SMA/ MA in Southeast Maluku Regency (Y) was statistically significant where the t test results obtain the t value of 3.5, and at the significance level of 0.002 where the variable X1 is smaller than the significance level of 5%. This study aimed to determine the relationship between (1) educational background, (2) perception of the use of instructional media, and (3) educational backgrounds and perceptions of instructional media utilization and the competence of physics teachers of SMA/MA in Southeast Maluku Regency.This research included the study of quantitative non-experimental approach.The results of the correlation analysis were as follows.
